Starlings flock above Daechuri village near Pyeongtaek, South Korea. The village of Daechuri was one of two villages demolished for US ARMY base expansion in 2007. There were vast protests and bloody clashes between people and police over the destruction of ancient farmland and home to wildlife and people. The photos here capture the spirit bird of korea above the village in its last days of occupation by militant Korean residents. The birds also fly in these strange wave formations above the place where Wonhyo, the much loved Korean monk of legend gained enlightenment. Korea offers a hidden wealth of animist and buddhist spirituality which is little know to the outside world. The bird formation of many as one, symbolises unity and freedom. This photo was framed by the universe, shutter pressed by elusiveworld photographer and gin lover D.Stills.
