Batmunkh, from the UB Post arranged an impromptu interview with the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia. We hurriedly purchased  white shirts and explorers khaki trousers then rolled up to the State Palace with our cameras.

We were apprehended at the door since Batmunkh was wearing a pair of casual shoes. It seemed that our dusty brown leathers would not be suitable to entertain a meeting with the Dep.   After several minutes of apprehension we were granted access on the premise that this was after all an interview about a yeti footprint.

My final question to the Deputy Prime Minister, Mongolia’s third man in charge was…”Do you think the yeti walks on all fours?” He stared at me for some time.

Birds of Korea

March 8, 2009

Starlings flock above Daechuri village near Pyeongtaek, South Korea. The village of Daechuri was one of two villages demolished for US ARMY base expansion in 2007. There were vast protests and bloody clashes between people and police over the destruction of ancient farmland and home to wildlife and people. The photos here capture the spirit bird of korea above the village in its last days of occupation by militant Korean residents. The birds also fly in these strange wave formations above the place where Wonhyo, the much loved Korean monk of legend gained enlightenment. Korea offers a hidden wealth of animist and buddhist spirituality which is little know to the outside world. The bird formation of many as one, symbolises unity and freedom. This photo was framed by the universe, shutter pressed by elusiveworld photographer and gin lover D.Stills.
